Goodwill of South Central Ohio is building a new retail store and center for individuals with disabilities on US 50 in McArthur.
Goodwill recently purchased a 2-acre plat next to Campbell’s Market which will become home to a new 12,000-square foot building it targets to be completed by second quarter of 2022. Specific details are still in the works, but part of the building will be devoted to a new home for the store, currently located on North Market Street, and part will be dedicated to the Vinton County Goodwill Activities and Training Center which currently operates from the back of the retail store.
“We are excited to bring to McArthur what we have been doing in our other locations across the region. The new space will be larger, brighter, and be built specifically with our operations in mind, providing both shoppers and our center participants an improved experience,” said Goodwill CEO Marvin Jones.
In recent years, Goodwill has done similar builds in Athens and Chillicothe which have been successful, Jones added. The move also will allow the center to grow and serve more individuals with disabilities with life skills training and opportunities to volunteer and connect with the community.
Goodwill is a nonprofit agency focused on partnering with individuals with disabilities and challenges to help them lead the lives they envision across our eight-county region: Athens, Fayette, Hocking, Jackson, Pickaway, Pike, Ross, and Vinton. As of June, Goodwill of South Central Ohio, based in Chillicothe, was serving 372 people across its region.
