Our Goodwill Services Centers are hubs for individuals with disabilities looking for services to help them lead the lives they envision. Our center managers will provide you, your loved ones, and your SSA with an in-depth look at our services including our day program, paid vocational training programs, and homemaker personal care.

Day Program

Meaningful Community Engagement:

Research shows social relationships impact our physical health, mental health, and even our mortality risk. The more we connect with others, the better we feel about ourselves and our live. One goal at our Activities and Training Centers is to provide a variety of opportunities for people with disabilities to make connections. Our plans are shaped by the person-centered outcomes of the individuals we serve.

Our Folks

Organize daily activities to engage with other individuals at the center such as art, singing, or watching a movie.
Take trips to places like the zoo, bowling, festivals, and touring local businesses.
Set up volunteer opportunities at places like animal shelters and food pantries.
Plan group holiday and birthday celebrations.
Life and work skills training.
Bring our centers together at least four times a year for a basketball tournament, bowling tournament, a dance, and a trip to the Pumpkin Show.

Transportation

Goodwill provides transportation to and from our Activities and Training Centers and their activities. We also may provide transportation for employment. We have wheelchair accessible buses and equipment in our centers to care for those with personal care needs

Vocational Training

Individuals attending our centers also have access to paid vocational training programs.

Project Connect is a paid transitional work training program for individuals whose goal is to one day secure community employment. Individuals may complete the program in as little as three months or remain as long as two years.

Handy Helpers is a paid work opportunity which helps residents, typically senior citizens and/or others with disabilities, with light household tasks for a donation of their choosing. Our Helpers have learned how to mow, use weed trimmers, paint, power wash, mulch, and more.

Homemaker Personal Care with Choice

Homemaker personal care are services provided to individuals with disabilities in the home. These include things like:

Getting dressed and keeping clean.
Making food.
Cleaning and doing laundry.
Companionship and getting out and being part of the community.
Getting to medical and dental appointments or other healthcare services.

Inviting someone into your home can be nerve-racking, which is why our homemaker personal care program aims to provide individuals with more independence and control. With our HPC with Choice service, the individual and/or guardian designates a volunteer HPC Coordinator, often a parent or another family member.

Professional Care

Since 1959, Goodwill has striven to form caring relationships with those we serve. Whether it’s in a center, at home, the workplace, or the community, our staff seek to engage the individuals we serve by learning about their hopes and dreams.
Goodwill is a certified provider through the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities, and our community employment services are CARF accredited. Our center staff certifications include:

Provider certification through the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities.
Medication administration
CPR and First Aid
Certified Employment Support Professional Career discovery certification

We currently have Goodwill Services Centers in Athens, Chillicothe, McArthur, Washington Court House, and Waverly. Our homemaker personal care, Project Connect, and workforce development services also are available in Hocking and Jackson counties.
